Fleecing your Olive Tree is only necessary if the UK withstands severe winters/frost. Also, if you live in the north of the UK and Scotland or if your tree is in a position that’s exposed to winds. The porous construction of the fleece allows the passage of light, air and water and also creates an excellent microclimate. The fleece supplied is approximately 3 metres x 3 metres and can be positioned over the crown (foliage) and then tired down around the trunk as shown in picture (A). Osmocote Pre-Plant provides the ultimate season long nutritional needs for trees, plants and shrubs providing a cost effective solution as well as labour saving eliminates needs for regularly feeding throughout the season an easy to use one application feed which provides full season nutrition for Olive trees, Palm trees, plants, trees and shrubs which include Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Buxus without fear of scorching. Osmocote Pre-Plant has a consistent release pattern due to the unique ICL resin coating technology, providing nutrition when the plants need it. The release is determined by the soil temperature; higher temperatures give a faster release and decrease the longevity period; lower temperatures slow down the release and so increase the longevity period.

Step 1: Choose the tree you wish to add a horticultural fleece to. Position your tree into a clear area so that you will be able to manoeuvre around the whole tree. In this case, we are using a Spanish Gnarled Olive Tree
Step 2: Using strong rope/string, tie a separate piece of rope to each corner of the fleece (don’t cut your rope/string too short). Please do not make any holes in the fleece to attach the string, use a strong knot to attach the rope to the fleece. Next, tie a piece of rope onto each side of the fleece (centrally in between each corner) In total, you should have 8 pieces of rope tied to the horticultural fleece. 
Step 3: Position the fleece evenly over the crown (foliage) of you tree. Then pull down gently and then tie all the 8 pieces of rope/string to the bottom of the trunk. Add more rope if necessary to secure any loose fleece against strong winds. 
Step 4: The process is now complete! Your plant will now be protected from harsh cold winds during the frosty season.
