It originated in Southern Japan on the Ryukyu Islands and is now widely cultivated worldwide, including in the United Kingdom and Europe.
The average Musa Basjoo will grow to roughly 2.5 metres and feature a crown comprising mid-green leaves and small yellow-green banana fruit. However, the fruit is inedible, so you cannot eat them like ordinary yellow bananas. But they provide outstanding aesthetics for a yard, landscape, or anywhere else on a property.
